Partners with award-winning “Hong Kong Raw Honey” to introduce leisurely honey Italian afternoon tea
Hong Kong, 15 September, 2022 – Cafe Roma, a hideaway beachfront dining cafe located in Ma Wan, has always been committed to environmentally sustainable development. We are partnering with Hong Kong’s award-winning conservation brand, “Hong Kong Raw Honey” to create a honey-themed Italian afternoon tea using raw honey from the champion Ivy Tree. While our guests can enjoy the downshifting lifestyle, we hope to raise public awareness about environmental protection and biodiversity.
Bees are of great importance for the ecosystem of our planet and also for edible plants. More than 70% of the food consumed by humans relies on pollination by bees to become food. So if bees disappear, human may face food shortages and a rise in food prices. Cafe Roma is mindful of the importance of biodiversity and is working with “Hong Kong Raw Honey” to promote the local raw honey culture, and has specifically chosen the “Ivy Tree Raw Honey” among other flavours for creating tea sets. As the Ivy Tree is a species of tree native to Ma Wan, guests can also look for its traces on the island while enjoying delicious gourmet. In addition, the Ivy tree raw honey has been awarded the Silver Quality Award by the London International Honey Awards. It contains natural enzymes and antioxidants and has a unique taste compared to other kinds of honey.
The new honey Italian afternoon tea set at Cafe Roma uses fresh products with Ivy Tree raw honey to create six iconic savoury and sweet canapés that pay homage to natural flavours: Start the gourmet journey with Burrata Bruschetta with Basil, whet your appetite with Pan Seared Prawn Skewer with Cajun, welcome the savoury Parma Ham Bruschetta with Parmesan Cheese, and enjoy the sweet and sour Honey Orange Glazed Chicken Skewer. The journey is perfectly rounded off with Lychee Mango Cheesecake with Fresh Fruit and Cafe Roma’s Homemade Tiramisu. The tea set is served with coffee or tea, and for an additional HK$40, afternoon tea guests will receive a glass of Mango Honey Float (original price: HK$58). Available every Tuesday to Friday from 3-6pm.
In addition, Cafe Roma also works with BeeFlo Botanic in Ma Wan for bee protection. Guests of Cafe Roma can enjoy an eco-tour at a special price of HK$250 per person (Original HK$300 per person) to learn more about pollinator animals and biodiversity, and reconnect urbanites with nature.
