Press > Cafe Roma Presents ‘Dog Day Out’, First-Ever Pet Adoption Day

Hong Kong, 19 February 2014 – Park Island’s pet-friendly beachside restaurant, Cafe Roma, has joined forces with the Society for Abandoned Animals (SAA) to host “Dog Day Out”, the establishment’s first-ever pet adoption and fundraising day on 8 March 2014. Since its opening in 2010, Cafe Roma has been considered by island residents to be one of the neighbourhood’s favourite pet-friendly restaurants, welcoming all pet owners and their four-legged companions as they enjoy an alfresco meal just steps away from Ma Wan Tung Wan Beach.

Dog Day Out is a free event that will take place on Saturday 8 March 2014 between 3pm and 8pm. The fun-filled afternoon features live music performances from local indie acoustic artists such as Van Chan and Cathay Ma Kwok Tai, an educational Q&A session with SAA’s in-house dog trainer and veterinary assistant, handicraft workshops, and face painting for children. Guests will also get the chance to meet Amber, Pineapple Bun, and Do, three friendly pups from SAA’s Yuen Long shelter, giving potential pet adopters the opportunity to meet and bond with their future pets.

Dog owners are welcome to bring their pooches to the event, and can take the Park Island ferry from Central Pier No. 2 if traveling to the island from the city. Park Island ferry schedules and passenger notes regarding pet travel can be found at http://www.pitcl.com.hk/eng/html/ferry.htm. A range of dog food and treats sponsored by Royal Canin will be provided for canine visitors during their visit to Cafe Roma, along with a goodie bag (limited supply, available while stocks last) including trial packets of dried pet food from Royal Canin and premium canned pet food sponsored by Kakato for guests to take home.

In support of SAA and their dedication to the welfare of abandoned or surrendered animals in Hong Kong, Cafe Roma will be donating a portion of its dining proceeds from 8 March 2014 to the charity organisation. Executive Chef Jaakko Sorsa and his kitchen team will also be baking special bone-shaped cookies for sale to not only raise funds for SAA but also to drive awareness to the importance of animal rescue and adoption.

With its delicious menu of casual Western food and an animal-friendly patio offering breath-taking views of the beach, Cafe Roma is the perfect location for a great day out for pets and humans alike.
